Hockey Tournament - Charleston

Lucy had a tournament weekend with the SGHL (Southern Girls Hockey League) and it was in Charleston this time. Like last time we flew into Charleston International and parked at Signature. Flying into Charleston is great because the view of all the C-17 Globemasters.

Last year we did the tournament thing Lucy was playing in 12 and under (while she was only 9) so she did well considering some of those nearly 13 year old girls were easily double her weight and had a good foot of height. This year she was excited to 'beat those shrimps' as she competed in the 10 and under league lol.

So we had a nice easy morning and launched directly from our hangar at our house... I still cant get over how amazing that is! We had 50 kt tail winds the whole way there and it was a nice easy 1 hour flight. We took an uber into town and she got in several games, then a big pile of chicken wings and fries, and then back to the hotel to have a very early 645am start the next morning. The Atlanta Thrashers team played fantastically! They didnt officially keep score since it was just for funsies, but all the parents were keeping a mental tally and they won something like 4, lost 1, and tied 1. Lucy subbed once for another team and she even played goalie a couple of times. Lots of hockey! Lucy played well and made us proud and we had great fun cheering her and all the girls on.

When we went to depart there were several F/A-18 jets parked on the ramp near us and the pilots were in the lobby. Very cool! Despite 50 kt tail winds the previous day we flew lower and enjoyed 'only' 18 or so kt head wind on the way back, for a net win!

It was a nice time made much easier thanks to bubbles! The drive time was about 5 hours, so our ~1.25 hour flight was well appreciated.
