Today I passed my IFR check ride and received my IFR rating! What an incredible challenge it was! I am so glad to finally have the rating after starting and stopping a couple of times in the past. I look forward to the increased flexibility in traveling. While we have done miraculously well with VFR to date, we have definitely had to cancel several trips and get stuck a few times over the years. Also importantly I can begin to build proficiency with IFR so that I can tackle the round the world trip around 5 years from now.
